Atlanta Birth Stories Gatherings

As of December 2020, Birth Stories Gatherings are paused until covid risk has lessened and we can safely meet outdoors again. Once we’re able, we will be meeting outdoors as long as weather allows, to be able to practice social distancing measures.

Since June 2017, I have been hosting Birth Stories Gatherings as a way to offer women support, a kind ear, and community. If you are a mama who has given birth but has not yet been able to share your birth story, you are pregnant and are looking for inspiration from the women who have birthed before you, you are trying to conceive and/or are just interested in learning more about birth, or you just feel you would like to be in the safe company of other women, please join me!

After birth, many times the mother is forgotten. The focus shifts from the mother’s well-being, to all about the baby. “How are you feeling?” becomes “How is the baby sleeping?” Birth Stories Gatherings are held bi-monthly to allow women to share their birth story in a safe, non-judgmental space, and to allow pregnant mamas a chance to gain knowledge from the women who have already gone through the birth experience. Grand stories, as well as challenging stories, are welcome and encouraged.

All women are welcome and you do not need to be a September Sun client to attend!

The next Birth Stories Gathering will take place on a date TBD at Cabbagetown Park, 701 Kirkwood Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30316. Bring your own blanket/chair. If you are interested in attending a gathering, please do reach out!

A $10 donation is suggested. Donations go to various organizations that focus on maternal health.

Please contact me to be added to the next invite email, or for more information about these gatherings.

Notes about this gathering:
-No food or drink will be served. Please bring your own water.
-Masks are encouraged.

I started attending Kelly’s many wonderful birth stories gatherings soon after I had my own daughter. Her positive energy and supportive environment are incredible.                                 -Takina H.
